Su Khwan101 , 2026

Su Khwan101

Before writing, science, or modern technology existed, ritual was one of humanity’s earliest technologies a way of understanding nature and communicating with the unseen.

In this body of work, the Bai Sri is reimagined not merely as a ceremonial offering, but as a device that connects humans with nature, belief, and the spiritual realm. The artist abstracts its traditional floral forms into machine-like objects, suggesting instruments that transmit and translate signals between the inner self and the world beyond physical perception.

When installed within a space, these sculptures do not claim supernatural power. Instead, they create new contexts of meaning, inviting viewers to experience remembrance, reflection, and blessings embodied through the work—echoing the spirit of the traditional Su Khwan ceremony in a contemporary form.

Rather than seeing the Bai Sri solely as a sacred object, this project proposes it as a form of cultural technology one of humanity’s earliest tools for connecting with nature and engaging with realities that lie beyond ordinary perception.
